Co-written by longtime Broadway performers Marla Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli and Director Tye Blue, the trio describe themselves as inherently queer, and gay, and extra. Together they created Titanique, a gay romp that sparkles with absurdity. The show first opened in a New York basement theatre and is now touring the world.
The premise of the parody is as crazy as the show is. Céline Dion was aboard the Titanic and is now here to tell her version of what happened on the doomed ship. With romance at the heart of the tale, Titanique is a send-up of the blockbuster film by James Cameron, with Dion inserting herself directly in the narrative. However, unlike the tears I spilled at the end of Titanic, this tragic tale will have audiences crying with laughter.

The campy musical parody is packed with Dion’s power love ballads including: “My Heart Will Go On”, “All By Myself”, “Taking Chances” and “To Love You More”. And adding to the fun, at times, audience members are encouraged to sing along.
The cast members seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely, and threw themselves into the songs with unadulterated joy and superb exaggeration. Cabaret legend Marney McQueen, plays the role of Céline Dion, with her usual comic gold but while Dion might be the star, Georgina Hopson, as Rose, was the songstress of the night with her powerful soprano voice and commanding stage presence.

This show is so kooky you just have to laugh and there is much to laugh about. Rose’s mother, performed by Stephen Anderson shines in the drag role, with wise cracking one-liners and straight up comebacks. Award winning dancer and actor Matt Lee playing a hammed up version of the Captain is fabulous, especially his hilarious rendition of “I Drove All Night“. And there’s talented eye candy with Drew Weston as Jack, and Keane Sheppard-Fletcher as Cal.
If you’re looking for a fun night out, splash hit Titanique is a must-sea musical comedy.
Playing at The Grand Electric until 22 June 2025.
